Botany Bay Yacht Club Tender Use

  • The Club provides a tender for transport to and from vessels on the Club's register that are moored in Kogarah Bay.
  • The tender may be driven by members on weekends (from 4pm Friday) and public holidays.
  • Priority must be given to vessels participating in Club events, including racing, regattas and cruising division activities. Events are listed in the Blue Book.
  • Fast turnaround is required. The tender may not be left tied to a vessel or mooring.
  • During events, only 2 people may be transported to or from a vessel. Other crew and equipment should be picked up and set down at the wharf. (Except where vessel draft prohibits).
  • The Secretary will circulate the key locker access code to members with a boat on the Club's register. Do NOT share the code, and always put the key back IMMEDIATELY!
  • If no one else needs to use the tender when you've finished, tilt the leg of the motor, then lock the fuel and kill cord in the storage box on the wharf.
  • Endeavour Boatshed keep the fuel topped up. There is a small emergency supply on the tender.

You're the Skipper, You're Responsible

  • Do NOT use if a gale is forecast, or in adverse weather conditions.
  • Check safety equipment, fuel level and that the prop area is clear before use.
  • Ensure the tell-tale is spitting water.
  • Observe all maritime regulations and keep a proper lookout.
  • Wear a lifejacket at times of heightened risk. The tender is 5.2m.
  • Ensure any children (under 12) wear a lifejacket at all times.
  • Ensure passengers are seated and keep arms & legs inside the boat.
  • Use navigation lights at night.
  • Go easy on the drink – legal blood alcohol limit is 0.05.
  • If you run into or over anything i.e. boats, moorings, sunken objects etc, you are responsible for the cost of repairs.
