The Botany Bay Yacht Club was founded in 1964, since then it has been actively promoting the sport of sailing.

Welcome to the Botany Bay Yacht Club! We're a volunteer sailing club, racing and cruising keel boats on the enclosed waters of Botany Bay, Kogarah Bay and the Georges River.


Summer Sunset Sailing - Friday evenings

Friday twilight sailing is the best way to start the weekend! Races start at 18:30. Please note: no race on 18 Jan 2019.

If you're new to sailing or have had a few lessons, twilight sailing in the sheltered waters of Kogarah Bay and the Georges River is a great way to build your skills. Please contact us beforehand to be matched with a boat and be at the clubhouse by 17:30 at the latest.

Endeavour National Championships - 19 & 20 Jan 2019

The BBYC is delighted to host the 2019 Endeavour Championships on 19 & 20 January 2019. It'll be a special year celebrating 50 years since production of the first Endeavour 26. For more details, please visit endeavour.asn.au.

Sailing Instructions

Australia Day Regatta & Fireworks - Sat 26 Jan

The 183rd Australia Day Regatta will be sailed on 26 January 2019. Its a handicap start with the slower boats getting a head start from 11:40am. It will be a lap of the Bay, starting in Kogarah Bay, then to Kurnell and Yarra Bay. Cruisers are welcome to sail, if its your first time, please let our Race Secretary know you're planning to sail so he can plan the handicaps.

Get your tickets now for the BBYC Australia Day dinner, just $22 per person. Family and friends welcome. The menu is steak or salmon and salad followed by pavlova or lamingtons. The steak will be perfect - its cook your own, the same as our popular Friday night bbq. There will be a short medal presentation, followed by a stunning firework display over Kogarah Bay.

Saturday Afternoon Racing - Spring Series

Bay racing on Saturday afternoons includes olympic, transit and sprint courses. .

New crew are welcomed. One boat is looking for regular crew for the spring series and ad hoc spots are often available. Please contact us beforehand to be matched with a skipper and be at the clubhouse by 11:00.

Boat owners can race their way - compete throughout the whole year, select your preferred race series or simply enter per race as a casual entry.

Cruising division - last Sunday cruising

Join us to cruise in company the last Sunday of every month.

Membership 2018/19

New members welcome! Its just $130 for a year of crew membership. That's only the cost of one coffee every second week! Come on...just do it.

Want to start sailing with us? Its free to try crewing. Just complete your contact details and agree to the Risk Warning before your first sail.

Never sailed before? Want tuition on your own yacht? AusSea Sailing School offers learn to sail courses on Botany Bay. BBYC members save 10% off all courses!

Tender Use
