Thank you all for your
confidence and attendance at the AGM or posted proxy votes to elect the Board
members and me as your Commodore for 2011-2012.
One of our Past
Commodores Graham Britt was the Returning officer and did a great job thank you
Graham.
It was pleasing to
have some of the previous Board Members stand again to help keep continuity and
with the new Board Members I feel the Club will progress with a benefit to all.
I felt even before the
meeting a new spirit evident amongst the members and we are looking forward to
the new season which should be easier and more productive for the Club.
Steve McLennan has put
his hand up to help with our website and it has begun to change already, some
of the items will include Race Results, Race Calendar Log reports and other
interesting items as they come to hand. To submit items they will have to be
sent and checked by the Secretary or persons to be named.
The new Seasons Blue
Book is well under way and remember you have to have a safety check carried out
on your Yacht to be able to race, The Accredited Officers are Rex, Bob, 2 Johns
and Bret. There have been some course changes to make it for a better Season.
An Off Shore series is
listed, we now need to see how many starters we can find and they will run on
the Sprint Series days.
The first meeting of
the new Board is proposed for Tuesday the 6th September 19.30.
Several days before
the working bee Ken Titmus cleaned the entire carpet and it looks
Great.
Working bee Last
Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th.
What a fantastic effort put in by the approximate 25 members who
participated.
I had my camera to take action shots of the work being done and forgot
and had to have some of you pose at your jobs sorry guys.
Saturday was the Big Day with the likes of “VC” Warren Eggins, Garry
Forde, Marie directing the members to re-arrange the furniture, clean the fans,
stove and other Club house jobs, Mr window
cleaner and outspoken person Greg
Larond doing a mighty job and when finishing that chore went looking to help
others.
Peter Bennet was a great asset after cleaning the fans inside, he was
then shang-highed into fixing the front gate post, and while waiting on
materials helped fit the new drop bolts onto the dividing fence as well as
realign the post with the help of several others
The oil shed was cleaned out and I have no idea who was responsible but
a job well done I believe 3 juniors Kyle, Daniel and his friend cleaned up the
rear parking area, well done.
The shark cat was anti fouled and other jobs attended to by Brett and
Bob I don’t know who else but thank you as well. The garden bed was shortened
and old holes filled with concrete, the new rubbing strips were placed on the
high wharf, thanks to Fred, Greg and who else helped. The big thanks goes to Noel
Garnet his input was outstanding he shortened the garden bed, dismantled
the old ramp, he was the master in building the new ramp and had a great
assistant in Kelly, Noel certainly likes to take a shot at the new Commodore
about the way the new planks were staggered nailed and not straight as he
wanted them done
From the proposed list only 3 items were not carried out:-
Fellows here is the list of your achievements for Saturday
Sunday
1. Drill out rivets and re-rivet alloy tender and
reseal holes.
2. Fit correct plank to new ramp.
As your new Commodore I thank you
all for the magnificent job you all carried out in completing all those
tasks listed above. I know some of you may be upset because you have not been
named but I know you were there and if it helps you may be in the pictures I
took.
Your proud Commodore
Brian Christenson.
